i believe that the press ignores the VP's trip and tries to demonize Biden…they are terrified of the possibility that a Blk woman of color may become President….
last year there was a world wide reckoning of white supremacy and systemic racism….we were able to stop the march of Fascism in our country with the election Biden/Harris…keeping the HOUSE and gaining control of the Senate…..however the backlash has been huge…but not unexpected….while the cult party of the GOP remains focused on regaining power at the expense of democracy….the Democrats are not united…which is not unusual….a party as unwieldy as ours has trouble deciding on how to move forward and as always there are those who rather fail if they cannot get what they want…
how strong would we be if we had passed voting rights…if we had passed the George Floyd justice in policing bill…the infrastructure bill and BBB bill…
Here in PA…we must send a DEM to the Senate and to the Gov's seat…i will be focused on that goal..

"When Trump took office, I was clear-eyed about what it meant for democracy and the rule of law.
I was prepared for his vulgar authoritarianism. I was not surprised by his clownish demands of obsequiousness from his staff. I assumed Mitch McConnell would see Trump as little more than a useful idiot in his effort to pack the federal courts. And I knew that Trump had no respect for democratic norms or rules.
Trump ended up being the worst president in the history of our country.
He ridiculed the exceptionalism of American democracy, and he belittled our country and its institutions.
He celebrated neo-Nazis and hate groups and politicized the Department of Justice. He appointed corrupt cronies, attempted to interfere in criminal prosecutions and investigations and tried to overturn an election he lost.
As his final act in office, he incited an insurrection in the nation's Capitol to overturn a free and fair election.
Last week marked the one-year anniversary of Trump's election defeat and the launch of the Big Lie.
But today marks the five-year anniversary of how the national nightmare began.
The Big Lie was born in the aftermath of the 2020 election, but it was conceived on Election Day in 2016.
Without the 2016 election,
there is no Big Lie,
no violent insurrection,
no unraveling of democracy."

Scientists publish results from massive snow leopard survey in Mongolia
"The Altai Mountain range and Eastern Soyon Mountain ranges were identified as strongholds of snow leopard populations, suggesting these habitats must be protected at all costs.
It is believed there are only between 3,500-7,000 wild snow leopards in the world dispersed across 12 countries. Mongolia is home to the world's second-largest snow leopard population after China.
However, reliable snow leopard estimates are difficult to come by and most estimates are, at best, guesstimates. In 2017, the Bishkek Declaration endorsed by the governments of 12 snow leopard range countries expressed serious concerns about the continuing gaps in knowledge about snow leopard population and distribution. "

One Hundred Years On: The Fifth Thule Expedition
"Long before Borge Ousland and Mike Horn, Knud Rasmussen was the undisputed king of the long-haul arctic expedition.
This year marks the centennial of his greatest achievement, the Fifth Thule expedition.
Rasmussen seemed destined for arctic travel.
Born in 1879, his father was Danish, his mother part-Inuit.
He was raised in Greenland and taught Kalaallisut, the local Eskimo–Aleut language, as his primary tongue. These early years exposed him to Inuit culture, traditional hunting methods, and a host of polar survival skills.
His first true expedition, the 1902 Danish Literary Expedition, examined Inuit folklore in Greenland's northern reaches. He published The People of the Polar North on his return. The expedition, and subsequent publication, laid out a framework for the next 20 years of his life. Rasmussen devoted himself to scientific and anthropological expeditions in the Arctic"
"Give me winter, give me dogs," he once said. "You can keep the rest."
"Rasmussen, Qaavigarsuaq, and Arnarulunnguaq covered more than 30,000km of inhospitable terrain,
much of it unmapped. This longest-ever sled journey took more than three years. Along the way, they encountered many Inuit communities and amassed a collection of more than "20,000 specimens, of which 15,000 are ethnographical and archaeological."
"Rasmussen avoided the pitfalls of many a European explorer. He did not presume to know all the answers.
